Linkers, cümleleri ve fikirleri bağlayan; yazıyı veya konuşmayı akıcı ve tutarlı kılan kelimelerdir. B2 seviyesinde although/despite, however/nevertheless, whereas/while ve furthermore/moreover gibi bağlaçları doğru kullanmak önemlidir.
Although, Though, Even Though vs Despite, In Spite Of
"Rağmen" anlamında kullanılır. Fark: Although/though/even though cümle (subject + verb) alır; despite/in spite of isim veya -ing alır.
Although / Though / Even Though + cümle
Örnek: Although it was raining, we went for a walk. — Yağmur yağmasına rağmen yürüyüşe çıktık.
Örnek: She passed the exam even though she didn't study much. — Çok çalışmamasına rağmen sınavı geçti.
Despite / In Spite Of + isim veya -ing
Örnek: Despite the rain, we went for a walk. — Yağmura rağmen yürüyüşe çıktık.
Örnek: In spite of having little experience, he got the job. — Az deneyime sahip olmasına rağmen işi aldı.
"Despite the fact that" ile cümle de kullanılabilir: Despite the fact that it was raining, we went out.
⚠️ "Despite of" YANLIŞTIR. Doğrusu "despite" veya "in spite of". "In spite of" ayrı yazılır.
However ve Nevertheless
Her ikisi de "ancak, buna rağmen" anlamına gelir; iki cümleyi zıt fikirlerle bağlar. However daha yaygın; nevertheless daha resmi.
Örnek: The weather was bad. However, we had a great time. — Hava kötüydü. Buna rağmen harika vakit geçirdik.
Örnek: The project was challenging. Nevertheless, we completed it on time. — Proje zorlu bir projeydi. Buna rağmen zamanında tamamladık.
💡 However cümle başında, ortasında veya sonunda kullanılabilir. Cümle ortasında iki virgül arasında: "We, however, decided to stay."
Whereas ve While
İki farklı şeyi karşılaştırmak için kullanılır. "Oysa, -e karşılık" anlamı verir.
Örnek: My sister loves cities, whereas I prefer the countryside. — Kız kardeşim şehirleri seviyor, oysa ben kırsalı tercih ediyorum.
Örnek: While some people enjoy sports, others prefer reading. — Bazı insanlar spordan hoşlanırken diğerleri okumayı tercih eder.
While hem karşılaştırma hem "süreçte, -iken" anlamında kullanılır:
Örnek: I met her while I was travelling. — Seyahat ederken onunla tanıştım.
Furthermore ve Moreover
Ek bilgi veya güçlendirme için kullanılır. "Ayrıca, üstelik, bundan başka" anlamındadır. Moreover biraz daha vurgulayıcıdır.
Örnek: The job offers a good salary. Furthermore, it includes health insurance. — İş iyi bir maaş sunuyor. Ayrıca sağlık sigortası da dahil.
Örnek: He is highly qualified. Moreover, he has ten years of experience. — Oldukça nitelikli. Üstelik on yıllık deneyime sahip.
